Midfur Recap
I've barely had a moment to relax since I got back from Midfur. I still haven't unpacked everything so there's art all over my studio. :) That means there's heaps of stock still to sell, so I'm thinking about putting some stuff up for a discounted price!
As usual, Midfur was a very lucrative endeavor for me - I am getting a new kitchen this month and the profits will help fund that nicely. I still have some commissions to do but they shouldn't take too long. I just have to get a pet painting out of the way first as that is due by Xmas. I should start thinking about holiday leave from work too...
Anyway, I made some new friends this year and was really happy to see some new (as well as familiar) faces. I have some cool contacts now and this may lead to some great business opportunities.
A few photos can be found here:
To do list:
Pet Painting - Bubbles
Fully Body B&W - DSmoke
Bust B&W - Goldfur
Bust B&W - Twi

Midur Day 1-3
I'm bored...sales are a bit slow today so I thought I would write up how my convention experience has been so far. Thursday was awesome! Smashed last years sales by double and Friday seemed a bit slow, but the till said otherwise. I've definitely covered my costs and hopefully the rest can go towards a new kitchen. :)
I've sold a lot a Rare Calendars and quite a few of my new limited edition prints. I've made a nice spreadsheet to keep track of the LTD prints so I know which numbers I've prepared and sold. Framed prints are also selling well. I think people are surprised by how cheap they are because they keep asking if the price includes the frame! Lol.
Also did some commissions this year - often I don't really like doing them at the con, but I'm just doing digital sketches so it's easy. Thanks to internet access (even flakey internet), I have references easily available. I will say one con-goer was quite affronted when I drew his character naked! A bit of a mis-communication there...
Anyway, back to it!

OMG! WHY IS IT SO HARD...
...to find a wholesale manufacturer of framing mats that is either located in or ships to Australia?! I just want to buy 100 8x10 mats (various colours) with backing and plastic sleeves, but it seems that every good bulk deal I find is from an American site that doesn't ship internationally.
I heard that the UN listed Australia as the #2 country to live, but sometimes this place frustrates the hell outta me! LOL.
EDIT: Ok, I found a place. www.matcutting.com.au

Getting ready for Midfur 12
So it's approaching that time of year again - my one and only convention where I am able to go and sell my wares to the perfect demographic. FURRIES! This December will mark my 3rd attendance of Midfur, Australia's first furry con. I believe there's a new one held in QLD, but unfortunately it falls on my partner's birthday and a major pool tournament, so that's out.
Anyway, this year Midfur is being held at Rygdes on Swanston, 2nd-5th of December. As usual I will be spending 99% of my time in the Dealer's Den pimping my arts. The con is quite profitable for me and I'm hoping this improves every year. I'll be bringing the same kind of stuff, just more of it! Originals, prints, framed prints, RARE Calendars, pendants and pathfinders (shaman stick thingies). My sister has been helping me this long weekend to get ready and I'm actually feeling really confident and organised. I've made up some signage - here's one for my pendants;
I will be able to make these on the day if anyone desires a personalised one.
Now I just have to get some new pieces done, all my prints made, and buy a plethora of frames. I could make some more pathfinders, but they are not guaranteed to sell so it's probably not worth my time.
I guess I could have used my long weekend better, but I had to have "me time" as well. That's it for tonight, cya!
